Premier League and EFL clubs were mandated to report their workforce diversity data for the first time this year under a new Football Association regulation aimed at enhancing equality. However, the findings have been met with silence from the FA, Premier League, and EFL, raising concerns about transparency. Analysis by Kick It Out highlights a stark lack of diversity, with 78% of Premier League club workforces being white, compared to 66% in local populations. Samuel Okafor, chief executive of Kick It Out, expressed disappointment, stating: “What the data has shown us is probably not a surprise to us or to many people.” Despite the publication of this data, many clubs reported high rates of “prefer not to say” regarding ethnicity and other demographics, complicating the assessment of representation.
